NCHFMA Summer Institute Highlights
I just returned from the North Carolina HFMA Summer Institute in Myrtle Beach, SC and wanted to share some of the highlights.
The event was well attended by over 250 local industry leaders. The Exhibit Hall was bustling with product demonstrations, networking, and give-aways. As a local chapter event, I saw many familiar faces. The Kingston Plantation provided a great setting for the event and the overall atmosphere was open and receptive.
Two exhibitors that caught my attention were ChamberlinEdmonds and AccessOne MedCard. I spent some time with Matt Russel from ChamberlinEdmonds, discussing how his organization obtains eligibility and short-term funding for its clients’ patients. I was particularly impressed by his focused message on patient advocacy.
Angela Gardner, from AccessOne MedCard, introduced me to her organization’s payment plan services for self-pay patients. The MedCard solution is an opportunity for providers to outsource self-pay billing and follow-up, while offering flexible payment options. I was particularly impressed with ability to combine hospital accounts from multiple family members into a single AccessOne account. According to Angela, the MedCard technology was developed internally and I’m looking forward to learning more about how it integrates with various information systems.
